How can we help?

A person reads every message. Most answers are below; if yours isn't, email us. Setting up the beta? Follow the setup guide.

A profile read wrong?

In the side panel, open the ⋯ menu, choose Copy diagnostics and paste it into your email. The text is masked, so it doesn't include the person's details.

Button not showing?

Refresh the LinkedIn tab once. If it still doesn't appear, check that SyncToCRM is switched on in your browser's extensions page, then email us.

Adding people

What does SyncToCRM do?

It adds the LinkedIn profile you're looking at to HubSpot in one click, shows whether the person is already in HubSpot, and never makes a mess of the records you already have.

How do I add someone?

Click Add to HubSpot next to LinkedIn's Connect and Message buttons. It saves straight away with your default fields, owner, lifecycle stage and list. If you'd rather check the fields first, switch off "Add to HubSpot in one click" in Settings, and the button opens the side panel instead.

Which details are saved?

First and last name, job title, headline, company, city, country and LinkedIn address. Email and phone are saved only when you type them in. You choose the HubSpot field for each one in Settings, including your own custom fields.

How do I know someone is already in HubSpot?

The button on their profile changes to View in HubSpot, and our logo on the right edge of the page gets a green dot. Hover to see who owns them and when they were last contacted.

Will it overwrite what's already in HubSpot?

No. SyncToCRM never empties a field. On an existing contact it fills only the fields that are empty in HubSpot. Where HubSpot and LinkedIn differ, it shows both and keeps HubSpot's unless you choose to replace it.

Will it create duplicates?

It checks first by LinkedIn address, LinkedIn's own member ID and email, and checks again right before creating. If someone with the same name exists but nothing proves it's the same person, it asks you rather than guessing.

Does it link the company too?

Yes. It finds the company in HubSpot by its LinkedIn page, its website domain or its name, and links the contact. If it isn't sure, it shows the closest matches for you to pick. It never links a company by guesswork.

What happens when someone changes jobs?

When you open the profile of a contact whose title or company on LinkedIn no longer matches HubSpot, SyncToCRM shows the change and can update HubSpot in one click, with a note on their timeline.

Does it work on company pages?

Yes. On a LinkedIn company page the same button sits next to Message and Follow: Add to HubSpot creates the company with its name, website, industry and location, and View in HubSpot opens it if it's already there. If HubSpot has companies with a similar name, it opens the side panel so you can pick the right one instead of creating a duplicate.

Can I add a note, a follow-up or a list while saving?

Yes, in the side panel: a note on their timeline, a follow-up task a few days out, and a HubSpot list. The list you pick is remembered for next time.

Sales Navigator

Does it work in Sales Navigator?

Yes, on lead pages (linkedin.com/sales/lead/…) and account pages (linkedin.com/sales/company/…): the same Add to HubSpot / View in HubSpot button sits next to Save and Message. A contact added from Sales Navigator is recognised on their regular LinkedIn profile, and the other way round, because both carry LinkedIn's member ID.

Which LinkedIn link is saved from Sales Navigator?

Two different links, kept apart: their Sales Navigator page goes to the "Sales Navigator profile" field, and their regular profile address goes to "LinkedIn URL". Sales Navigator doesn't show the regular address, so "LinkedIn URL" is filled in the first time you open their regular profile. It's never filled with the wrong link.

LinkedIn messages

Can I save LinkedIn conversations to HubSpot?

Yes. Every open conversation, in the chat box or on the Messaging page, has a Log button. One click saves the messages to the contact's HubSpot timeline as a "LinkedIn message" activity, the same type HubSpot uses when you log one by hand.

Will the same message be saved twice?

No. SyncToCRM remembers each message it has saved. Clicking again later adds only the new ones.

Can it log messages automatically?

Yes, if you switch on Log open conversations automatically in Settings (it's off until you do). Then, whenever a conversation is open on your screen and the person is already in HubSpot, new messages, theirs and yours, are saved by themselves a few seconds after they stop coming.

Does automatic logging read my whole inbox?

No. It only reads conversations you have open on your screen, and only for people already in HubSpot. It never opens conversations, never loads your inbox in the background and never fetches anything from LinkedIn.

What if the person isn't in HubSpot yet?

Nothing is saved. The Log button says "Not in HubSpot" and takes you to their profile, where you can add them first.

Safety and privacy

Is it safe for my LinkedIn account?

SyncToCRM never acts for you on LinkedIn: it doesn't visit profiles, send messages, connect or scroll through pages by itself. It only reads the page you're looking at, when you use it. Tools that crawl LinkedIn or sync your inbox in the background are the ones that get accounts restricted.

What can the extension access?

Only linkedin.com (to read the page you have open) and HubSpot (to save). It doesn't ask for access to other websites. See every permission and why.

Where is my data kept?

LinkedIn details go straight from your browser to your HubSpot. Your settings, and the list of messages already logged, stay in your browser. We don't keep a copy. Privacy policy.

Everyday use

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows) saves from the side panel. Alt+Shift+S opens the side panel; you can change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Other Chromium browsers (Brave, Arc) should work but aren't tested yet.

What if LinkedIn changes its pages?

If a detail can't be read, the panel says which one and lets you type it in, instead of saving it empty. If a whole page can't be read, you can fill in the details by hand from the page address. After an extension update, open LinkedIn tabs keep working without a refresh.

Which CRMs does it work with?

HubSpot today. Pipedrive is planned next, then Attio or Zoho. Tell us which CRM you use when you join the beta; it decides the order.

How much does it cost?

Free while in beta. After the beta there will be a simple monthly plan, from $9 a month, with no credits. Pricing.

Something isn't working. What do I do?

Email support@synctocrm.com. If a profile read wrong, open the side panel's ⋯ menu, choose Copy diagnostics and paste it into your email. It describes the page's layout with the text masked, so it doesn't include the person's details.
