LinkedIn to HubSpot
Add LinkedIn profiles to HubSpot as contacts, in one click
The ways to get someone from LinkedIn into HubSpot, what each one needs, and how SyncToCRM does it without duplicates or overwritten fields.
Three ways to get LinkedIn contacts into HubSpot
1. Copy and paste
Open the profile, create a contact in HubSpot, then copy the name, title, company, location and profile address across one by one (HubSpot has a built-in "LinkedIn URL" property for the address). It works, but it takes a minute or two per person, and it's easy to create a duplicate of someone who's already there. A CSV of your connections is the bulk version: how to import it without duplicates.
2. HubSpot's own LinkedIn apps
HubSpot's Sales Navigator app shows LinkedIn details on HubSpot records but can't import contacts. Its LinkedIn CRM Sync app can create contacts from Sales Navigator. Both need a Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise seat and Sales Navigator Advanced Plus. Requirements and limits.
3. A browser extension like SyncToCRM
An extension adds a button to LinkedIn itself. You click it on the profile you're viewing and the contact is created in HubSpot. SyncToCRM works on regular LinkedIn profiles and on Sales Navigator lead pages, with any LinkedIn account. How it compares with Hublead, Surfe and LinkMatch: the best LinkedIn to HubSpot tools in 2026.
How it works with SyncToCRM
- Install the extension in Chrome or Edge and connect your HubSpot account in Settings.
- Open someone's LinkedIn profile. SyncToCRM checks HubSpot by the profile's address and shows Add to HubSpot or View in HubSpot next to LinkedIn's Connect and Message buttons.
- Click Add to HubSpot. The contact is created with your default owner, lifecycle stage and lead status, linked to their company and, if you like, added to a list with a follow-up task.
Want to check the details first? Open the side panel from the logo on the right edge of the page. Every field can be edited or unticked before saving.
Which LinkedIn details go where in HubSpot
These are the defaults. In Settings you can send any detail to a different HubSpot property, including your own custom ones, or switch it off.
| LinkedIn detail | HubSpot property | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First name, Last name | firstname, lastname | From the profile |
| Job title | jobtitle | The current role in Experience, not the headline |
| Headline | linkedin_headline | The line under the name. Created in HubSpot the first time you save |
| Company | company | Also linked as a company record |
| City, Country | city, country | Where the person is based, from the top of the profile |
| LinkedIn URL | hs_linkedin_url | HubSpot's own "LinkedIn URL" field, cleaned so the same person always has the same address |
| LinkedIn member ID | linkedin_member_id | Saved quietly, so a lead from Sales Navigator is recognised on their profile |
| Email, Phone | email, phone | Only when you type them in |
No duplicates, no overwritten fields
- Matching: SyncToCRM looks for the person by LinkedIn address (in any form HubSpot has it stored), LinkedIn member ID and email, and checks again right before creating.
- Same name only? It shows the possible match and asks. It never merges people by name.
- Existing contacts: empty HubSpot fields are filled; anything already there is kept unless you choose LinkedIn's value. Nothing is ever emptied.
- Companies: matched by LinkedIn company page, website domain or name (ignoring "Ltd", "Inc." and similar). Look-alikes are shown for you to pick, never linked by guess.
Keeping HubSpot up to date
When you open the profile of someone already in HubSpot whose title or company has changed, SyncToCRM shows the change and updates HubSpot in one click, with a note on their timeline and a "LinkedIn job change" date you can build lists on. Conversations can be logged to the contact's timeline from LinkedIn messaging with one click (all the ways to log LinkedIn messages).
SyncToCRM only reads the page you have open, when you use it. It never visits profiles, sends messages or crawls LinkedIn for you. Safety and permissions.
Questions
Which details are saved?
First and last name, job title, headline, company, city, country and LinkedIn address. Email and phone are saved only when you type them in. You choose the HubSpot field for each one in Settings, including your own custom fields.
Will it overwrite what's already in HubSpot?
No. SyncToCRM never empties a field. On an existing contact it fills only the fields that are empty in HubSpot. Where HubSpot and LinkedIn differ, it shows both and keeps HubSpot's unless you choose to replace it.
Will it create duplicates?
It checks first by LinkedIn address, LinkedIn's own member ID and email, and checks again right before creating. If someone with the same name exists but nothing proves it's the same person, it asks you rather than guessing.
Is it safe for my LinkedIn account?
SyncToCRM never acts for you on LinkedIn: it doesn't visit profiles, send messages, connect or scroll through pages by itself. It only reads the page you're looking at, when you use it. Tools that crawl LinkedIn or sync your inbox in the background are the ones that get accounts restricted.
Does it work in Sales Navigator?
Yes, on lead pages (linkedin.com/sales/lead/…) and account pages (linkedin.com/sales/company/…): the same Add to HubSpot / View in HubSpot button sits next to Save and Message. A contact added from Sales Navigator is recognised on their regular LinkedIn profile, and the other way round, because both carry LinkedIn's member ID.
Can I save LinkedIn conversations to HubSpot?
Yes. Every open conversation, in the chat box or on the Messaging page, has a Log button. One click saves the messages to the contact's HubSpot timeline as a "LinkedIn message" activity, the same type HubSpot uses when you log one by hand.
